Healthy Eating Tips

Let’s talk about eating. There are many different opinions on this subject and I am here to offer you another. The following is what I have recommended and what I personally have stuck with over the last ten years.

Incorporate whole grains & vegetables into your meals. Try to eat smaller portions of meat.
I’ve never been a huge veggie eater. But by doing this, I have developed a liking for a wider variety of vegetables. By trying to eat less meat, I go for the veggies or the salad when I want seconds.

Switch to 1% or skim milk.
This is a really easy way to cut down on calories. I must say that I love cream in my coffee. The problem is, l like lots of cream in my coffee and I have 2-3 cups a day. Trust me, the calories add up this way.

Drink plenty of water.
I find 8 glasses to be a little excessive for me, but I do try to drink at least 3-5 glasses a day. Keep in mind that often when we feel tired, we are actually beginning to dehydrate and a glass of water will energize you.

At mealtime, stop eating as soon as you feel full.
By doing this, you are readjusting the amount of food your body is content with in one serving.

Now these recommendations do not come without their challenges. You may very well find them difficult. Really try to stick with these on your routine days and after about a month, it becomes much easier. When you have an opportunity to go out for dinner, that's not the time to skimp on what you eat. I don't know about you, but I don't go over for dinner that often, I really want to enjoy my meal.

Again, working with a personal trainer will truly encourage you and keep you accountable.

DIETING IS A NO NO! Fad diets, expensive special foods for a very high percentage of us do not work. The reason being is that usually and quite quickly, they become far too costly AND no healthy changes have been made.

Make the healthy changes by exercisiing and following these healthy eating tips and these habits will be with you forever.
